What’s not to love about a man with a sense of style? I frequently find myself ~~drooling over~~ appreciating the wardrobes of certain male musicians, artists, bloggers, actors and even some of my own friends, completely impressed by their good taste…

So it’s been on my mind for a while to start a new thread for men who actually set my heart all a flutter with their styling and first up is Mos Def (you know how I like to save a little space for Mos Def)

Perfect timing too as I discovered US b-boy, Set Free, caught up with The Mighty Mos Def in New York to talk about his love of fashion.

Ooooh what I would have given to be in the room while they were recording this song! Great track recorded in such an old school way and for such a good cause too.

Most Def joins Lenny Kravitz, Trombone Shorty, Tim Robbins and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to record this song for Gulf Aid. An organisation focusing on relief efforts along the Louisiana Gulf in response to the oil spill.

Every now and then I like to watch clips from Def Poetry on YouTube and not just for the glimpses of Mos Def but mostly for the great poetry performed by known and unknown artists.

Man this is just the refreshing type of music I like to hear at the start of a new year and the fact that it features Mos Def makes it even better… Not that I have a crush on him or anything… no siree nothing like that at all…

His styling in this video is pretty impeccable though. Loving the whole get up from head to toe and the vintage feel on the vid… I’m just thoroughly enjoying it.

Here it is the first single from Mos Def’s much awaited album The Ecstatic. Yay! Amongst other sources, the track samples from Brazilian group, Banda Black Rio’s song Casa Forte. Admittedly I didn’t know them before but I’m liking the sample.

I’m currently clapping my hands, and jumping around like I’m four but how else can I react to the news that Mos Def is releasing a new LP, The Ecstatic, in Spring 2009!

Just when I was enjoying a a period of reminiscing on Mos Def tracks I receive this amazing piece of news and if like me you feel this is too good to be true, see the excellent teaser vid below for evidence.

Mos Def is sooooo adorable. I do recognise that’s not the most hip hop compliment I could give him and given I’ve only seen him on screen it’s quite superficial too but a girl can dream.
