Apparently there are over 7000 promises in the Bible. Over 7000 instances of God giving us an assurance of something he will do or that will happen. Actual promises!
I wanted to spend a season fully recognising and claiming these promises. I’m hoping to share these every week (given my recent blogging track record that will be quite an achievement!) as I thought it’d be a good note to start the week on.
For now I’m looking at promises about love so where better to start than with John 3:16:
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
or as I sometimes like to read these promises:
For God so loved [your name] that he gave his one and only Son, that should [your name] believe in him [your name] will not perish but have eternal life.
And what’s so great about the eternal life God has promised to you? Revelation 21:4 explains:
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
Definition of a promise
A declaration or assurance that one will do something e.g. “If you post a comment I promise to read it” or that a particular thing will happen e.g. “If you post a great comment I promise to smile and say you’re awesome”
If you have a favourite promise or text for this week, please share in the comments below.
Have a blessed week x
