It’s like pharmacy, meets pantone, meets tasty typography and all in a chocolate wrapper. Bibby explains the concept below…

“The student brief was to brand and design a new chocolate bar to be sold in Selfridges & Co. I decided to name my brand Elixir, referencing the medicinal powers that chocolate is often said to posses. The packaging itself references pharmaceutical design from the mid-late twentieth-century as I thought this would provide an interesting break from the often decorative chocolate wrappers of competitors, as well as reinforcing the brand identity. Each flavour in the Elixir range is differentiated by a single block colour and an element symbol, similar to those on the periodic table. Once collated the chocolate bars would be sold as a variety pack, housed within a labeled prescription bag.”

Honestly think this is the cutest thing and definitely continuing to inspire me to organise a Sunday Brunch this summer.

Designed by quirky goods company Fred and Friends they describe it as:

Got cream? Half Pint is an artfully blown and molded glass creamer that captures the comforting familiarity of a mini milk carton, just like the ones Mrs. Fontaine used to pass out in the school cafeteria. Simple, elegant, whimsical – it’s a gem de la crème. Individual gift boxes.

Speaking of Fred and Friends I could honestly spend all day on their site. They’re brilliant!

Here’s what he had to say about the project:

“This work was done as a school project. The goal was to create packaging designs for a line of herbal teas made by an imaginary brand “Aroma”. My approach was to use a traditional, ornamentic look aiming at customers looking for healthy, natural products. Here are the results.”

BGR was both musically and in reality (due to the long struggle to get the music to her fans) a testament to Res’ strength and perseverance. Based on mood/theme boards I created for the album design, I went with a look dubbed “guerilla graphics”. It was a look based in strength, empowerment and blunt honesty. This was the theme of not only the album but of the struggle to get BGR released. This look was achieved with the use of bold and bright colors, painterly brush strokes and striking photography. Not only was Res ecstatic with the final look but so have been her fans and critics alike.

Fab! And in other news Clutch Magazine offered a free download of this LP which you can grab here.

How cool is this? Strukt Design Studio created this ‘Lightrails’ installation for the sound:frame Festival.

A bit of blurb on the project:

The interactive audio-visual installation ‘Lightrails’ was a project that Strukt created together with unheilbar architektur for sound:frame Festival taking place at the Project Space inside the Kunsthalle Wien.

‘Lightrails’ is a light sculpture with the intention to re-define and re-interpret the exhibition room. An easy but effective mapping technique was used to create seamless projections on both sides of the object.

Light-beams were triggered by the visitors and ran through the room, following the surface created by the sculpture. Each “reflection” of the light-beam was accompanied by sound. The speed and brightness of the beam was directly influenced by the force the visitors used when triggering the beam stepping on pedals on the floor. This also influenced the volume of the sound-effects. The audio signal was played back on a surround sound system that allowed a spatial positioning of the sounds and created a truly immersive experience.

When I was a kid I used to imagine myself one day working in some corporate skyscraper, in an über chic office, with power shoulders and a briefcase. No idea what the actual job would be but there’s only so much detail a kid under the influence of Dynasty could imagine.

So anyway I saw this gorgeous statement of a table and thought it’d make a great addition to anyone’s über chic office. Named the Spring Table, it was made by Stockholm designers Tb and Ajakay in collaboration with Karl-Johan Hjerling and Karin Widmark as part of their Spring Collection.

Tb and Ajakay had this to say about the project:

With Spring Collection our aim is to restrain and remold with different techniques. Using common materials such as wood, metal, paper, rock, cork, leather and fabric we creat our own interpretation and a new expression. The final shape of the objects is where the materials limitations and our design is brought together.

The Melbourne Theatre Company is a remarkable building designed by ARM architects. I just love the way the angles are illuminated. It must be fantastic to see up close.

All lamps were designed by Daniel Loves Objects who had this to say about his work:

“Imagine the classical movable mannequin takes on a whole new form and style. The classical lamp has evolved much over the years but what if this lamp allows your imagination to run wild? And every movement of joint is at your control? What will the evolution be? The results may be controversial, provoking or elegant. Finished in gold plating for a touch of exquisiteness.”
