Breakin Convention 2014 at Spa Fields

I wondered over to the Breakin Convention bank holiday Monday. I had my little cousins with me itching for some afternoon entertainment and they definitely got it.

It was a novel experience walking around with a 5 and 6 year old, giving them their first real taste of hip hop culture. I took them around various display areas, trying not to be offended by their impatience with breakdancing but humoured by their intense focus, shoulders hunched, as they sprayed their first ever tag.

We were all intrigued by the ‘bar breakers’? Don’t know if that’s actually what they’re called but there seemed to be a lot of muscle, a lot of bars and some pretty crazy tricks involved.

Unfortunately we missed the main stage events but overall it was still worth the trip. I’d been meaning to go the Breakin Convention for a few years now and was glad I finally made it. The boys had fun and so did I.
