The Music: Foreign Exchange – Don’t Wait

So Foreign Exchange at Cargo. What a night that was. Given I was already pretty excited about this event it did not disappoint at all. In fact it delivered everything I wanted… Well maybe a bit more as I now have a small crush on Phonte…

They arrived late enough for the crowd to become a little restless but all was forgiven as soon as they kicked things off. All of my favourite songs were sung except ‘Something To Behold’ but I can really let that slide for the fact they played ‘Nic’s Groove’, ‘Take Off The Blues’ and my favourite from their current album Authenticity, ‘Don’t Wait’.

I have to say I love live music. And this was good music and real talent. What I heard live was as good if not better than what I heard on the CD which I think should count for more than it seems to these days.

Added bonus was seeing Sy Smith live who I’ve come to appreciate after hearing her sing ‘Bad On You’ with Anthony Hamilton. Was also introduced to artists Zo and AB who seem to have quite the following. Sy and Zo are back in London to perform at the Jazz Cafe on March 6 so if you’re an appreciator check them out.

Seriously happy times
