So this isn’t going to be a major review but I saw TRON:Legacy over the weekend and I thought I’d share my 3 on it. Normally it’s 5 but like I said this isn’t a major review…
1: I hadn’t seen the first TRON but I was actually looking forward to this. Then I heard a lot of people saying it’s not great and hardly any of it’s 3D. Definitely not worth an IMAX ticket. So I slightly downgraded my viewing plans and watched it in straight forward 2D instead. Glad I made that choice and not just because we are in the “era of austerity”…
2: It was ok. Just ok. It’s one of those films I probably wouldn’t mind having on in the background whilst I was doing other things but watching it as my sole source of entertainment would demand a lot more than this film had to give I think.
3: Effects were very cool. Very cool but given most of the film seems to feature a palette of just 4 colours it does get a little monotonous visually. Black, White, Orange and Icy Blue. I get these are the colours of TRON as much as Black, Yellow, Red and Blue represent Pac Man but still… *shrugs*
Overall, I wouldn’t say don’t watch it, maybe just don’t expect it to be amazing. On a side note I watched this little vid of how the film was made… I wonder if actors really get much out of working with all that blue screen?
