The Gadget: Touchscreen Macbook Pro???

With rumours only recently circulating of a touchscreen iMac at the end of 2009, how has a touchscreen Macbook Pro already started retailing?

The short answer is I have no idea but it seems Axiotron are indeed selling their ‘Modbook Pro’ to the world at the recession-rebel price tag of $5,000, and that’s for the basic spec.

Axiotron say they have built the Modbook Pro from the ‘Apple Macbook Pro base system’ and it includes:

  • a 15.4-inch WXGA display
  • ethernet, FireWire® 800, USB 2.0 (x2), Mini DisplayPort, digital audio, ExpressCard/34 slot and Bluetooth
  • an optical drive bay and pen garage with magnetic pen catch.
  • a 2.8GHz Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor t 0.93 inches
  • NVIDIA® GeForce® 9600M GT graphics processing.
  • Quickscript™ handwriting recognition technology
  • a partitioned drive pre-installed with Windows Vista so you can flick between Mac or Windows.
