The Experience: Vodafone Blackberry Storm

I am very disappointed. The Blackberry Storm I so raved about turned out to be less of a thunderous adventure and more of a damp squib…

I have now had the Storm for exactly 13 days, 12 of which have seen it sit idly on my dining table whilst I arrange a return.

Yes, I am indeed sending it straight back from whence it came. Why? Well to show you I’m not being entirely unfair I’ll break it down into pros and cons:

Pros:

  • Good video quality
  • Good audio quality
  • Good integration of applications (i.e. facebook and Google Maps)
Cons:
  • Lack of WiFi makes viewing YouTube and internet browsing range from impossible to annoyingly slow.
  • The so-called superior touchscreen seems to be down to the fact the screen is one big button. Not great for us RSI sufferers
  • Similar to the above typing was both literally and figuratively a pain in the wrist. Given that I went with blackberry for the ease of sending emails, sms and Pings this was a major drawback.
  • There’s a bug which kept switching the camera on for no apparent reason…very annoying
So, rather dissapointingly it’s going back. But I still have pleasant memories of my time using the Blackberry Curve so I might go for the Bold instead which was in fact the original plan before I was seduced by the Storm but hey, you live and you learn.
