So to compensate for the lack of visual stimuli, I decided to perk up my desk with some stationery and homely details.
But first I have to confess, my name is Harlem and I am a stationery junkie. As a child, every opportunity I had to visit my mum’s work place involved me celebrating the opening of her stationery cupboard like it was Toys r Us.
As if my mum’s workplace wasn’t enough, a trip to the post office would practically have me bouncing off the walls. I was not happy until I’d grabbed a copy of every form and stuck every available sticker on something entirely inappropriate. And you don’t even want to get me started on the marvel that a pen on a chain could present to a three-year old.
Today I’d like to say my tastes have refined somewhat and it was a true pleasure to browse through various stationery providers till I finally came across the one that has provided my desk with the necessary delights.
Her name? Emma Bridgewater the maker of “some of the nicest little things in your kitchen…”. The stationery seems to be a recent venture but means you can find a range of wonderfully decorated items from polka dotted pottery to cartoon calendars.
Personally, being the type who loves motivational quotes, I fell for the Black Toast and Marmalade collection (as on notebook set pictured above) and take great pleasure in being reminded by my expander file that I am “really well organised” or at least will be… one day.
